Malir Cantonment Gymkhana and Azimpura Gymkhana have reached the quarterfinals of the ongoing SM Adil Zone Four Inter-Club Cricket Tournament, organized by the Regional Cricket Association Karachi Zone Four, after defeating their respective rival teams.

In the first match on Thursday, Malir Cantt Gymkhana defeated Gulzar Cricket Club by 6 wickets. Chasing a target of 195 runs, Malir Cantt scored 197 runs for the loss of only four wickets, thanks to a splendid innings by Ibad Khan. He remained not out with 103 runs, his innings included four fours and a dozen sixes. Ishtiaq Qureshi provided valuable support with 45 runs.

Earlier, opting to bat first, Gulzar Cricket Club was all out for 194 runs. Ahsanullah was the top scorer with a brilliant innings of 68 runs, which included 11 fours and one six. Muhammad Sohail scored 48 runs, while Hamza Akbar and Idrees Mirza added 21 and 20 runs, respectively.

In the bowling for Malir Cantt, Abdul Rafeh Malik, Khalid Khursheed, Muhammad Zeeshan Bangash, and Muhammad Talha took two wickets each. For his match-winning performance, Ibad Khan was declared the Markhor Man of the Match.

In the second match, Azimpura Gymkhana defeated Colony Gymkhana by a margin of 37 runs. Batting first, Azimpura posted a big total of 268 for the loss of 8 wickets. Mudassir Abbas played a magnificent innings of 82 runs with the help of eight fours and three sixes. He was well supported by Sufyan Ghani (46), Ramesh Shah (34 not out), and both Syed Daniyal and Kamran Khan who scored 27 runs each.

For Colony Gymkhana, Zain Arif was the standout bowler, taking 3 wickets for 57 runs, while Jawad claimed two wickets.

In reply, Colony Gymkhana could only manage 231 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in their allotted overs. Asad Majeed played a brilliant innings of 86 runs, comprising 13 fours. Abdul Saeed scored 45 and Zain Ashraf made 40, but their efforts were not enough for a victory.

For Azimpura, Osama bin Sultan was the most successful bowler, taking 3 wickets for 38 runs. Mudassir Abbas showcased his all-round performance by taking 2 wickets and was later named the Markhor Man of the Match.
