Man shot dead, another injured in Srinagar

Srinagar, October 02, 2021 (PPI-OT): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, a person was killed and another severely injured by unknown armed men in Srinagar, today. The two incidents, apart from an attack on a CRPF bunker, took place within six hours of each other.

 

Officials have confirmed that both the persons were shot at from a close range in different parts of Srinagar by unidentified gunmen, while a group of men hurled a grenade towards a CRPF bunker in Islamabad district. In the first attack, which took place in Srinagar’s Karan Nagar, a local, Majeed Guru was fired at from point blank range, following which he sustained injuries to his chest, face and abdomen, according to officials.

 

The police immediately rushed him to Shri Maharaja Hari Singh (SMHS) hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival. Medical Superintendent of SMHS Hospital Dr Kanwar Jeet Singh confirmed that the man had succumbed to his injuries on his way to the hospital.

 

A CRPF bunker of 40 Battalion was targeted at KP Road in Islamabad in the second attack of the day. However, the grenade missed the target and exploded nearby without causing any loss, a police official said. The area was cordoned off immediately after the attack.
