MANUU students protest in solidarity with Talib Hussain

New Delhi, August 11, 2018 (PPI-OT): Students of Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) staged a silent sit-in protest to express solidarity with Talib Hussain, who was arrested by Indian police in Samba area of occupied Kashmir last week. Talib Hussain has been on the forefront for demanding justice to the eight-year-old rape and murder victim, Asifa, in Kathua earlier this year. He was tortured in the custody of police in Samba.

In the backdrop of recent torture in police custody, students said that attempts were being made to kill Talib Hussain. They said that despite passing of seven months in Kathua minor’s rape and murder case no progress was made in the case to punish the culprits and now the authorities were torturing and putting pressure on the witnesses in the case.

The students said that all this was being done to polarize the entire region on religious lines and intimidate the Muslim community. They said that Talib Hussain gave voice to the suppressed and voiceless people. He was the one who raised the case and now he is being punished for the same, they deplored.
