Islamabad, January 19, 2018 (PPI-OT):Senate Committee on Rules of Procedure and Privileges in its meeting on Friday has decided to request the Chief Secretary Sindh yet again to come to the next meeting who has not attended any of the last three meetings on the matter of breach of privilege of Chairman Senate as Acting President during his visit to Karachi in September 2017.
The meeting was held under the Chairmanship of Senator Jehanzeb Jamaldini here at the Parliament House on Friday and was attended among others by Senators Sardar Muhammad Yaqoob Khan Nasir, Azam Khan Swati, Saleem Zia, Zahida Khan, Secretary Parliamentary Affairs Malik Tahir Sarfaraz, Joint Secretary Housing and Works Jameel Ahmed Khan and Commissioner Karachi Ijaz Khan.
The Committee was told by Commissioner Karachi that he was not intimated about the arrival of Acting President and consequentially he could not come to the airport. The Committee decided to hear Chief Secretary Sindh who despite repeated calls did not call back, DG Protocol Sindh who received the Acting President in Karachi and Chairman’s protocol staff to see the missing link in communication about the Acting President’s arrival.
The Committee also discussed the privilege motion of non-provision of relevant documents relating to development work carried out in NA-21 since 2013 by Pak-PWD, Hazara Division moved by Senator Muhammad Azam Khan Swati. The mover told the meeting that he has received all documents except those about Torghar and TMA. The Committee will discuss the contents of the documents once the remaining lists are provided and documents are scrutinized in detail.
