Islamabad, October 25, 2018 (PPI-OT):Meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on Communications was held under the Chairmanship of Senator Hidayatullah here at the Parliament House on Thursday. The Committee took compliance report of its recommendations given in previous meetings held on September 6 and September 24. The matter of public importance raised by Senator Maula Bakhsh Chandio regarding toll tax being collected on Hyderabad Super Highway and the matter of detailed report on the ongoing motorway projects in the country moved by Senator Nauman Wazir Khattak and Senator Talha Mehmood.
Chairman NHA and General Manager M-9 told the Committee that they have reviewed the matter. The toll tax from Karachi to Jamshoro is being collected by FWO. The toll tax is collected on per kilometre distance basis. Rs 230 are collected on the first toll plaza and another toll of Rs. 30 is collected in Hyderabad and if toll collection is stopped, it will cause a loss of 90 crores to the government exchequer.
