Meezan Bank’s 63rd Shariah Board Meeting Focuses on Aligning Economy with Islamic Principles

Karachi, Meezan Bank recently held its 63rd Shariah Board Meeting at Darul Uloom in Karachi, chaired by Justice (Retd.) Muhammad Taqi Usmani. The meeting was attended by key members of the Shariah Board and senior management of the bank, focusing on aligning economic activities with Islamic principles.

According to Meezan Bank Limited, the Shariah Supervisory Board (SSB) provided essential guidance on Shariah structures for the issuance of the Sovereign Government of Pakistan Sukuk. This guidance is a significant step in integrating Islamic principles into the country’s economic framework. The meeting saw participation from board members Dr. Muhammad Imran Ashraf Usmani, Sheikh Esam Mohamed Ishaq, and Mufti Muhammad Naveed Alam, along with Meezan Bank’s Founding President and CEO, Mr. Irfan Siddiqui, Deputy CEOs, Mr. Ariful Islam and Syed Amir Ali, and other senior management members.

The Shariah Board reviewed the bank’s various policies and procedures and expressed satisfaction with the training sessions and Shariah review activities conducted within the bank. These efforts are part of Meezan Bank’s commitment to ensuring its operations and financial solutions are in strict adherence to Islamic principles.
