Memorial reference held for Dr Kamal Jamro at FUUAST

KARACHI:Acting Vice Chancellor of Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology (FUUAST), Karachi, Dr Rubina Mushtaq on Wednesday assured that arrears, pension, research journal dues will be paid immediately to the family of late Dr Kamal Jamro, Chairman of Sindhi Department in FUUAST, who passed away a week ago due to dengue fever.

She said this while addressing a reference held in the memory of Dr Jamro at Abdul Haq Campus of FUUAST. The memorial reference participants were told that Jamro was a very active lecturer in the Sindhi Department of the Federal Urdu University and was suffering from constant mental stress due to non-convening of selection boards for 2013 and 2017 at the university. His wife Dr Abida Jamro should be given a job in the department, the speakers said. The university is responsible for the arrears and a special package for government employees who die in the line of duty.

The meeting highlighted the scholarly services of Jamro and declared his writings as an asset of Sindhi and Urdu language. Dr Rubina Mushtaq, Acting Registrar Dr Sarem, Head of Faculty of Arts And Teachings Dr Muhammad Ziaudin, Head of Faculty of Science Prof Dr Muhammad Zahid, Federal Urdu University Dr Tauseef Ahmad Khan, Member Vice Chancellor Search Committee Dr Asghar Dashti, Dr Yasmeen Sultana, Najam-ul-Arfeen, Dr Faisal Javed, Former President of Teachers Association Iqbal Naqvi, Prof. Dr. Ghulam Rasool Lakhan, Leading Broadcaster Habib Sagar, Dr Inayat Leghari of Sindhi Department, Dr Seema Abro, Dr Wasimuddin, Dr Sher Muhammad Mirani, Prof Dr Muhammad Abid, Dr Kamal Haider, Khurram Shah Nawaz, Roshan Soomro, Azhar Soomro, Waheed Jamro, Saeed Usmani, Farooq Ahmed, Dr. Oj Kamal and Dr Irfan Aziz spoke on the occasion.

In the reference, the Vice Chancellor was asked to write a special letter to the President of Pakistan and the Chancellor of the University to provide the Prime Minister’s assistance package to the employees who passed away while on duty, Jamro Remedy Committee should be set up, and a conducive learning environment for university teachers and the selection board for 2013 and 2017 should be ensured in the university immediately.

The Vice Chancellor was also asked to ensure immediate payment of arrears of Dr Jamro’s research journal. The meeting was attended by a large number of university teachers, assistant teaching staff, officers and their colleagues. At the end of the meeting, a special prayer was offered for Jamro.
