Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar has appealed to the Islamabad High Court (IHC) to reinstate the Shalimar Recording and Broadcasting Company (SRBC) to safeguard the employment of over 300 individuals.

Speaking to reporters outside the IHC on Friday, Tarar confirmed he had presented his arguments before the court, emphasizing the need to reverse the liquidation process, which commenced before his tenure. He stressed that restoring the SRBC was crucial for preserving the livelihoods of its workforce.

The court, according to Tarar, has requested a business plan and instructed the liquidator to disburse outstanding salaries to SRBC staff. Tarar also criticized a prior administration for inflicting substantial financial losses on Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) through reckless pronouncements. He commended the incumbent government”s efforts in restoring PIA flights to Europe and the United Kingdom. He noted that the resumption of Pakistani airlines” flights to Europe had initially been underway during the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz”s previous term.

Addressing a separate inquiry, Tarar censured the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, alleging pervasive incompetence, corruption, and mismanagement. He criticized the provincial administration”s failure to rescue tourists stranded in the Swat River, attributing it to widespread corruption and inefficiency.
