Ministry of Human Rights takes serious notice of heinous Kasur incident

Islamabad, January 11, 2018 (PPI-OT):Ministry of Human Rights takes serious notice of the heinous incident of rape and murder of seven year old girl Zainab, who had gone missing on January 4, when she ventured out of the house and her body was found in a garbage pile five days later. Ms. Rabiya Javeria Agha, Secretary, Ministry of Human Rights has directed the Chairman “National Commission for Human Rights”(NCHR) and “National Commission on the status of Women (NCSW) to setup an inquiry of this condemnable and horrific incident. She strongly condemned this barbaric incident and said that strong action should be taken against the perpetrators. She further said that there were very solid and sound recommendations that had been forwarded, but it is very painful to see that no concrete steps have been taken by the administration of Kasur to curb the recurrence of such grave incidents.

Two years back officials from Ministry of Human Rights visited Kasur in order to examine the heinous crime of child sexual abuse in the vicinity of village Hussain Wala, where they meet Chief Secretary and IG Punjab. In meeting Ms. Rabiya Javeria Agha, Secretary, Ministry of Human Rights showed grave concern over child abuse/murder cases reported in Kasur district. She emphasized that there is a dire need to identify socio-economic dimensions of the heinous crime of child sexual abuse in the vicinity of village Hussain Wala, District Kasur so as to adopt a comprehensive strategy/package to address the issue in all its dimensions.
