Karachi, August 16, 2018 (PPI-OT): On the directives of Sindh caretaker minister for minority affairs, human rights Simon John Daniel, minority affairs department government of Sindh has started rebuilding boundary wall around century old Christian Cemetery well known as Gora Kabristan which is demolished by Karachi Metropolitan Corporation following the Supreme Court orders regarding removing hoardings and bill boards.
The Cemetery remained without boundary wall for more than two months which led to disrespect of graves and security issues. On the complaints, caretaker minister for minority affairs and human rights Simon John Daniel took action and directed minority affairs department government of Sindh to rebuilt wall on urgent basis.
On Thursday, caretaker minister for minority affairs alongwith Bishop of Karachi and Balochistan Sadiq Daniel and deputy director minority affairs Anwar Babar visited the Christian cemetery and inspected the progress of rebuilding work of wall. The caretaker minister asked executive engineer minority affairs to complete the boundary wall and also two separate lavatory blocks for male and female.
On the occasion, in a briefing Executive engineer minority affairs Riaz Bhutto informed that PC-1 is under consideration costing around Rs. 50 million for restoration of historic Christian graveyard which consist raising of construction and raising of compound wall, conservation of old graves, two rooms for offices, four blocks of lavatory two each for male and female and filling of 30% depression area of grave yard.
