Mother pleads innocence of son Bilal Kawa

Srinagar, January 22, 2018 (PPI-OT):In occupied Kashmir, Fatima Begum, the mother of Kashmiri businessman, Bilal Ahmad Kawa, arrested by New Delhi police, has said that his son is not involved any unlawful activity. Bilal was arrested by joint team of Special Cell of Delhi police and Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad from New Delhi airport on January 10 in the fake Red Fort attack case.

Curiously, the Kashmir police have vehemently rejected anything adverse against Bilal and have even submitted a fact-finding report certifying his non-involvement, before a local court in Srinagar. Fatima was in Delhi when Bilal was arrested. “My another son Niyaz Ahmad, who is settled in New Delhi for last 26 years had gone to receive Bilal at the airport,” she said adding that once Bilal ventured out of Terminal 3, the Gujarat police in civvies whisked him away. “Niyaz told the police that he will accompany his brother to police station, but they did not agree.”

Bilal had left his home at Qutabdinpora, Aali Kadal, in Srinagar, in the afternoon of January 10 for Delhi, and had arrived at Delhi airport at 3.45 PM. He according to family was carrying drumstick, kale (vegetable) and pickles with him.

The family, relatives and neighbours in one voice told media that the ATS has fabricated the case against Bilal. They said that they don’t know why after 18 years, the police have started looking for a businessman who is known to everybody in his locality. Bilal’s two daughters, Mutia Bilal, Fazilat Bilal and wife have already gone to Delhi in December. “He used to spend every winter in Delhi with his brother along with family,” Fatima said.
