QUETTA: Muhammad Iqbal Yousafzai, member of Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Balochistan, has alleged that two officers of Federal Board of Revenue were demanding bribe from him despite the fact that he had been submitting declaration and taxes in the Federal Board of Revue for the last 20 years.

Addressing a press conference at Quetta Press Club here on Wednesday, he said, “Although I am the member of Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Balochistan and a former political activist yet I am holding a press conference in personal capacity to divert the attention of higher authorities towards the high-handedness of two officers of FBR.”

He said that a notice was served on him to deposit Rs 0.9 million by June 09 in the State Bank of Pakistan on account of committing fraud in the declarations submitted in the FBR. He said that Inspector Fahad and Rashid Abbasi, an officer of FBR asked for a deal to drop the notice. He said that the allegation of committing a fraud in the declaration had nothing to do with reality. He called on authorities to initiate disciplinary proceedings against officers of Federal Board of Revenue.
