Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari has stated that the government has initiated multiple programs aimed at women empowerment.

In an exclusive interview to Radio Pakistan on the occasion of International Women’s Day, she emphasized that women should be recognized every day rather than just on a single occasion.

The minister acknowledged the significant contributions of women, whether as homemakers, professionals, or public servants, and affirmed their role in making society more prosperous. She highlighted that Maryam Nawaz, as Punjab’s first female Chief Minister, is committed to addressing women’s issues while prioritizing their empowerment.

She praised women for their dedication and commitment across various fields. She also elaborated on key initiatives launched by the Punjab government, including the Pink Button initiative to combat harassment and the establishment of virtual police stations to assist women who may hesitate to visit traditional police facilities.

Bukhari pointed out that women in Punjab are actively participating in different roles without facing discrimination, noting that a significant number of Assistant Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners in the province are women, marking a major milestone.

Encouraging women to recognize their strengths, she urged them to contribute positively to their families, communities, and the nation, whether at home or in the workforce.
