Murad says being heirs of shuhda, PPP respects them, their families, and their legacy

KARACHI:Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said Monday that due to the sacrifices of the martyrs of the Pak army, Rangers, the police, and other law enforcement agencies, we are living in a free land and enjoying a peaceful sleep.

“Those who do not respect the sacrifices rendered by our army, Rangers, and the police for the sake of this country and the nation are bound to meet a similar wrath of the nation which they had decanted on May 9 by attacking statues of shuda, Jinnah House and GHQ," he said this while speaking at the Youme-Takreem-Shuhda program organized at a local hotel.

The program was attended by provincial ministers, Sharjeel Memon, Saeed Ghani, Nasir Shah, MPA Qasim Soomro, Special Assistant Qasim Naveed, DG Rangers Major Azhar Waqqas, Additional IG Tariq Qureshi, Ramzan Chippa, people of from showbiz and civil society.

Mr. Shah said that though the martyrdom of any law enforcement agency's personnel brings tears to his family members' eyes, the pride and satisfaction he has witnessed on their faces was the manifestation of their spirit of love for their country, its people and institutions.

The CM recalled his condolence visit to the houses of Gen Sarfraz and Major Saeed Tunio of Larkana, who died in a helicopter crash in August last year. He said the son of Gen Sarfraz and father of Major Saeed was high and they were proud of their sacrifices.

“My prayers are for the shuhda of Pak Army, Rangers, Police, and other law enforcement agencies and I believe they live in the heavens,” he said and saluted those mothers who gave birth to sons who sacrificed their lives to protect the country.

Talking about the May 9 incident Mr. Shah said that they [PTI] also caused heavy loss to the public and private property but we - the DG Rangers and IG Police- met twice and averted their nefarious designs of causing more damages.

The CM said that in the attack on KPO in February 2023 the brave policemen and Rangers personnel - Taimore of Rangers, Ghulam Abbas and Abdul Latif (ex. army man) of police, and Ajmal Masih sacrificed their lives. He added that in the operation against dacoits in katcha areas the policemen, including DSP Abdul Malik Bhutto, SHO Deen Mohammad Leghari, SHO Abdul Malik Kamangar, and constables Saleem Chachar and Jatoi Pitafi had embraced Shahdat in November 20222.

Mr. Shah said that he has recommended their names for awarding them `Tamgha-e-Shujaat’.

Mr. Shah said that his party leader Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto laid his life for the sake of this country. He recalled the last but important words of Shaheed Mohterma Benazir Bhutto she had delivered during her election rally at Liaquat Bagh, Rawalpindi on Dec 27, 2007. She said, “Who will protect Pakistan, I will protect Pakistan, you [people of Pakistan] will defend Pakistan, we all will defend Pakistan against terrorists, and I will fly the national flag on Sawat.” This was the height of her love for this country and its borders which she wanted to protect and secure against the terrorists.

Murad Shah said that our leaders have sacrificed their lives for the sake of this country and “we, being the heirs of our shaheed leaders, know the pain of their sacrifice, the importance of shuda that is why we, the PPP, respect shuhda, their families and their legacy,” he concluded.
