NADRA employees observe protest sit in front of head office

Peshawar: Employees of National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) on Tuesday staged protest sit-in in front of Nadra headquarter office at Hayatabad in favour of their demands.

The demonstrators were carrying banners and placards inscribed with slogans of regularization of the employees.

Saleem Khan, president of Nadra Employees Union (NEU) was leading the protest demonstrators.

Talking on the occasion he said the employees were given duty for almost 14 hours daily and they were not paid for the public holidays whereas weekly holidays had also been suspended due to preparation of electoral lists for Election Commission of Pakistan.

“ 6,000 Nadra employees are working on temporary basis and despite their hard work they had not been permanently employed. They demanded of the government to accept their demands including regularization, payment of allowances and increasing salaries otherwise they would stop official working.

The employees boycotted of their official work as protest almost bring the Nadra system in Peshawar to standstill as people faced hardships in receipt of their National Identity Card (NIC).
