Naseerabad’s agriculture being ruined: Protesters told

QUETTA: Agriculture sector of Naseerabad Division, sole green belt of Balochistan province, is going to be ruined due to acute scarcity of water.

These views were expressed by speakers while addressing a protest demonstration held outside Quetta Press Club under the aegis of National Party Naseerabad Division here on Saturday against the dearth of water in Naseerabad Division.

Speakers said that six members of Balochistan Provincial Assembly from Naseerabad Division and two members of National Assembly from the same division were doing nothing to address the problems of water used to water the agrarian lands of Naseerabad Division.

They said that the authorities of Irrigation Department, Naseerabad Division, particularly Executive Engineer, Irrigation, Naseerabad, was not providing water to the local growers from Patfeeder canal. They said that if water was not provided to the growers of Naseerabad Division, the area might face the worst drought.

Demanding transfer of Executive Engineer, Irrigation, Naseerabad Division, speakers called on authorities to provide due share of water from Patfeeder canal to the growers of Naseerabad Division. Protest demonstration was addressed by former MPA and central leader of National Party, Yasmeen Lehri, Atta Muhammad Bangulzai, President, National Party, District Quetta, Nagun Khan Zehri, President, National Party, Naseerabad Division, Rustum Khan Khosa, Vice President, National Party, Suhbatpur, Dr. Tariq Baloch, member central committee, Baloch Student Organization (Bijar), Salman Khosa and others.
