National Assembly Secretariat issues instructions for facilities to ex-MPs


QUETTA:National Assembly Secretariat has issued instructions for provision of facilities to the ex-members of the parliament.


A letter of National Assembly Secretariat addressed to Chief Secretary Balochistan states, “According to SRO issued by the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, the Federal Government has approved the following facilities for all ex-members of the Parliament who remained members of either House of the Parliament for at-least one term as detail below:


(a) free access to the Secretariats, Libraries and lounges of the Senate, National Assembly and all the Provincial Assemblies; (b) a permanent entry pass to observe the proceedings of the Senate and National Assembly; (c) use of VIP lounges at all airports in the country; (d) all normal courtesies extended to the members of Majlis-e-Shoora (Parliament) by diplomatic mission abroad; (e) use of Federal Government lodges and guest houses excluding Parliament Lodges on payment of normal rent subject to the availability of accommodation and after giving priority to the sitting members; (f) entitlement for an official/ gratis passport; and (g) have access to and seek interview with any government functionary of the Federal and Provincial Government.”


Letter further states, “Moreover, other facilities as provided in sub-section (2), (3) and (4) of the section 12 of the members of Parliament (Salaries and Allowances) Act, 1974 states as under; (2) An ex-members who remained a member of either house of Parliament for at least one term shall also be entitled to such facilities as is notified from time to time (3) A member and ex-member shall be entitled to the same medical facilities as are admissible to an officer of BPS-22 of the Federal Government. (4) An ex-member and his spouse shall be entitled to the gratis official (blue passport)”.


National Assembly Secretariat has requested Chief Secretary, Balochistan to direct all Secretaries of Provincial Departments to ensure the provision of aforesaid facilities to ex-Members of the National Assembly.
