Islamabad, April 03, 2018 (PPI-OT): 42nd meeting of the Standing Committee on M/o Human Rights met today at 10:30 am in the Committee Room No. 07, 4th Floor Parliament Lodges, Islamabad, under the Chairmanship of Mr. Babar Nawaz Khan, MNA. The meeting commenced with recitation from the Holy Quran. The Committee confirmed the minutes of the previous meeting which was held on 21st March, 2018.
The Committee discussed the implementation status of recommendations of the Committee for resolving the issues of affectees of Tarbela and Warsak Dams. The report of the 15 members Committee on affectees’ record was presented by its President, Mr. Ejaz Khan and provided to the Committee so that action could be taken to resolve their issues and allotment of plots to the affectees from the royalty of 94 trillion which was deposited to Federal Government and paid to KPK with the help of Committee of Common Interest.
It was reported by him that 30,000 acres of land was due to be allotted to the affectees of Tarbela Dam in Sindh and Punjab which has not so far been allotted to them since the last fifty years. The Committee recommended that the Chief Secretary, Government of the Punjab and Chairman, Wapda sit together and issue orders to allot the land to the affectees of Tarbela Dam with the approval of Board Revenue of Punjab out of the land available in Bahawalpur and Cholistan.
The Committee also recommended that Xen, Peshawar along-with his staff and the Honourable MNA, Mr. Sajid Nawaz should visit in his constituency, Peshawar on 4.4.2018 at 10:30am to resolve the issues of affectees of Warsak Dam and installation of meters to the consumers therein and report to the Committee on 6th April, 2018 in its next meeting. The Committee also recommended that Chief Executive Pesco should also resolve the issues of affectees and report to the committee in its next meeting for signing MOU on 6th April, 2018.
The Report of the Sub-Committee” to discuss the steps taken by the Government to control pollution created by the industries of Hattar, District Haripur, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Sindh and Baluchistan and the Labour Policy of the Government” was presented by its Convener, Sahibzada Muhammad Yaqub, MNA which was accepted and adopted by the Committee. The Committee recommended that Fauji Cement Factory and Best Way Cement Factory which are being set up should not be established in the populated areas of Khoee Nara Khanpur Road, Haripur.
The meeting was attended by Sahibzada Muhammad Yaqub, Ms. Aliya Kamran Murtaza, Ms. Kiran Haider, Ms. Munaza Hassan, Ms. Surriya Asghar, Ms. Zahra Wadood Fetemi, Ms. Asiya Naz Tanoli, Mr Sajid Nawaz, Kanwar Naveed Jameel, Mrs. Naseema Hafeez Panezai, Dr. Shazia Sobia and Begum Tahira Bukhari, MNAs and officials of the Ministry of Human Rights and Provincial Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
