National Assembly Standing Committee on Maritimes Affairs meets

Islamabad, August 19, 2019 (PPI-OT): 5th meeting of the Standing Committee on Maritime Affairs was held in Conference Room, KPT Head Office, Karachi, at 11:00 am under the Chairmanship of Mir Amer Ali Khan Magsi, MNA. The agenda of the meeting was circulated vide Notice No.F.8 (1)/2019-Com-I dated 9-8- 2019.

Syed Ali Haider Zaidi Minister for Maritime Affairs told the Standing Committee on Maritime Affairs about the new shipping policy which will be in vogue very soon. It is a huge achievement of the present government. It will be beneficial for all the organizations such as KPT, PQA, PNSC, etc, and besides this investment in shipping sector will be greater as compared to the past. The process of digitization is being carried in the Ministry and its departments as well as organizations. Around ten new terminals will be built to facilitate the shipping companies and shipping vessels. The committee also asked KPT to strictly observe quota requirements for the jobs. The provincial government in conjunction with KPT should resolve the issues of traffic congestion and encroachment.

The meeting was attended by Syed Ali Haider Zaidi Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs and MNAs, Rana Muhammad Qasim Noon, Mr. Muhammad Yaqoob Shaikh, Mr. Faheem Khan, Mr. Saif Ur Rehman, Mr. Abdul Shakoor Shad, Mir Khan Muhmmad Jamali, Ms. Nuzhat Pathan, Mr. Muhammad Aslam Bhootani, Mr. Usama Qadri, Ms. Shahnaz Naseer Baloch, Mr. Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh, Mr. Jam Abdul Karim Bijar, Mr. Abdul Qadir Patel, Mr. Kamal Uddin, Mr. Kesoo Mal Kheeal Das, Chairman KPT, DG Ports and Shipping, and Senior Officers of KPT.
