(National): CM takes notice of building collapse in Lyari

Karachi: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah taking notice of the building collapse in Lyari on Sunday directed Commissioner Karachi to ensure proper treatment of the injured and support the family who lost their dear ones.

Shah directed the commissioner to conduct a detailed inquiry and report him. “I want to decide the fate of all vulnerable buildings once for all,” he said and added those responsible for allowing substandard construction and illegal buildings must be brought to book,” he said.

The chief minister said that it was quite painful to hear the incidents of building collapses and loss of life.

Condolence: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah expressing profound grief over the sudden demise of prominent scholar Allama Zamir Akhtar Naqvi said that he worked for sectarian harmony. He always talked about humanity and their rights.

The chief minister prayed for the departed soul that may Allah rest him in eternal peace and grant courage to the aggrieved family to bear this irreparable loss.

Police, rangers and citizens started rescue operation to pull the injured and bodies from the rubble.

Residents of the area say that the building collapsed when a contractor was going digging work with heavy machinery in adjoining plot to erect a building. Some other buildings in the same street are also termed dangerous for human living.
