National Highway Authority environment wing launches afforestation campaign

Islamabad, May 04, 2018 (PPI-OT): NHA has initiated tree plantation alongside various motorways as part of the initiatives ofenvironmental improvement and afforestation campaign. Plantation along Burhan-Havelian Motorway and Islamabad Peshawar was started last month. In continuation of the same initiative General Manager Environment Ms. Naila Baqir Rana along with Member Central Zone and General Manager corporate Pakistan Tobacco Company inaugurated a plant nursery at Ghartal Camp.

Ms Rana informed that this project is being done with Pakistan Tobacco Company through public Private Partnership. One million plants nursery has been established in Faisalabad, these plants will be utilized in plantation activities across motorway and highways. Several other projects from own resources are also in pipeline Peshawar – Islamabad Motorway (M-1), Burhan-Havelian – Thakot (E-35), Pindi Bhattian – Faisalabad – Gojra – Shorkot – Khanewal (M-4 Motorway) as well as China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) highway projects included.
