National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq appealed to the nation on Monday for widespread support for families affected by the devastating floods. He stressed the critical need for both individual and collective action to provide relief and rehabilitation to those who have suffered losses of homes, livelihoods, and loved ones.
Sadiq urged philanthropists, charities, and civil society organizations to actively participate in relief and rehabilitation initiatives. He emphasized that coordinated aid, combined with government efforts, would significantly alleviate the victims’ suffering.
‘Rehabilitating flood-stricken communities is our shared national duty. No one can remain unconcerned in this crisis,’ Sadiq stated. He pointed out that people in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and other regions desperately require food, shelter, and medical aid.
The Speaker appealed to businesses and individuals to contribute generously to the reconstruction of damaged homes and the restoration of essential services in flood-hit areas. He also called upon Pakistani youth to volunteer their time and effort for relief work. ‘Young volunteers can be instrumental in distributing food and medical supplies and rebuilding the lives of those devastated by the floods,’ he added.
Sadiq encouraged the nation to display unity, compassion, and selflessness during this challenging time. He emphasized the importance of reassuring affected families that they are not alone in their ordeal. ‘This is a moment for solidarity and empathy. Supporting our fellow citizens in their time of need is both a moral imperative and a national responsibility,’ Sadiq concluded.
