Islamabad: National Monsoon Preparedness Conference 2022 was held in Islamabad to discuss and review the preparedness and coordination among all departments for upcoming Monsoon.

National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) organized the conference. Representatives of federal and provincial governments, provincial disaster management authorities, Armed Forces, Emergency Response Services and other relevant departments attended the conference and shared the preparations made so far for the Monsoon.

According to a statement issued here on Friday, besides launching of National Monsoon Contingency Plan 2022, the conference also discussed climate change, heat wave and reviewed the preparations for upcoming monsoon season at national and provincial levels.

Speaking on the occasion, Chairman NDMA Lt Gen Akhtar Nawaz highlighted climate change and its impacts and vulnerability of Pakistan to various disasters especially floods.

Underscoring the need for better preparedness and coordination to avoid loss of life and property in case of any disaster, the Chairman NDMA stressed on timely sharing of early Warning/ Information, awareness and community.
