ISLAMABAD:The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has approved an increase of Rs4.85 per unit in the price of electricity in connection with monthly fuel adjustment charges for February, says a notification issued Friday.

The power rate hike come at a time when people are expecting a major relief from the new government of PM Shehbaz Sharif. The act of the government will shatter public hopes in the new government as it will create more price hike.

The NEPRA issued a notice in this regard stating that the raise will be applicable on the electricity bill for the month of April only. It will be applied to all consumers of the Discos except lifeline and K Electric consumers. The CPPA had sought an increase of Rs4.94 per unit. Before that in January, Rs5.94 per unit were charged from consumers in connection with monthly fuel adjustment charges.
