National Peoples Party (NPP) Chairman and former federal minister Murtaza Khan Jatoi today warned that the decision to construct six new canals in Punjab would turn Sindh barren, so the people must play an effective role against this plan.
Speaking to media representatives after the hearing of a murder case in the Anti-Terrorism Court, he stated that those canals were being built to cultivate Cholistan’s land, which would severely impact Sindh’s fertile lands.
Jatoi alleged that those responsible for destroying institutions had also compromised Sindh’s water and land. He claimed that certain political elements were making statements against the construction of those canals while simultaneously signing agreements for them.
He further stated that the Jatoi family had always engaged in transparent politics and prioritized name and honor over financial gains. He revealed that eight cases had been registered against him, and even if the number reached forty, he would not make any compromises. He urged the public to raise their voices against the present rulers.
