The Parliamentary Caucus on Child Rights (PCCR) today presented a report titled ‘Parliamentary Engagement for National Strategy on Education Emergency’ to National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and Secretary General Tahir Hussain, addressing Pakistan’s pressing issue of 26.3 million out-of-school children.

The report, shared on X (formerly Twitter), follows Prime Minister’s declaration of a national education emergency. Led by MNA Dr. Nikhat Shakeel Khan, the PCCR delegation included MNAs Syed Ali Qasim Gillani, Asia Naz Tanoli, Danyal Chaudhry, Sofia Saeed, Dr. Shahida Rehmani, Syeda Shehla Raza, and Zahra Wadood Fatemi.

Culminating six months of provincial discussions, the document offers a strategic plan aligning with the Prime Minister’s urgent call for collaborative action to tackle the educational crisis.

The study details legislative actions, pinpoints shortcomings, and charts a course for parliamentary involvement to reshape Pakistan’s education system. The PCCR briefed the Speaker and Secretary General on the report’s core proposals, stressing the importance of legislative support and inter-provincial cooperation.

Both officials, along with attendees, commended the PCCR’s dedication to children’s welfare and their timely initiative on education reform.
