ISLAMABAD: National Highway Authority (NHA) has prepared an alternative route at Hassanabad on Karakoram Highway on the directions of Minister for Communications Asad Mahmood.
Forty tons of weight can easily be transported from this route. A temporary bridge will soon be built there. According to the NHA, construction of permanent standard bridge is continuing at an accelerated pace under the supervision of Chairman National Highway Authority Muhammad Khurram Agha and prominent expert Dr Muhammad Iqbal.
Hassanabad bridge collapsed following glacier outburst. In his remarks, Minister for Communications Asad Mahmood said that we are cognizant of the importance of Karakoram Highway and it is our responsibility to ensure smooth flow of traffic on the highway for the convenience of the public.
