North Karachi Association of Trade and Industry President Faisal Moiz Khan on Sunday issued a strong appeal for a more liberal industrial policy in Sindh.

Commentary on the provincial budget in a statement, he stressed the necessity for strategic budget allocations across all seven industrial zones in Karachi to foster economic growth and development.

Khan highlighted the urgent need for the establishment of a Combined Effluent Treatment Plant, which he described as crucial for the sustainability and environmental compliance of industries. He further pushed for the inclusion of these zones in the Safe City Project to ensure enhanced security and safety measures.

Amidst his critique, the NKATI president expressed concern over the delayed construction of the Hyderabad-Sukkur Motorway. He pointed out that while the project is pivotal for improving economic connectivity throughout Sindh, it has received insufficient federal funding-only Rs. 15 billion of the estimated Rs. 144 billion needed.

Adding to the list of grievances, Khan condemned the operations of the Sindh Revenue Board (SRB), labeling it as corrupt and a significant hurdle to economic progress. He called for immediate actions to rectify these issues and for the swift initiation of development projects aimed at revamping Karachi’s deteriorating infrastructure.
