No attention to promote sport activities: PPP leader

QUETTA: Nisar Yadgar Sarangzai, provincial leader, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Balochistan has said that the incumbent provincial government was paying no attention to promote sport activities at governmental level rather funds released by the department were embezzled by the a few officers of the department.

In a statement issued here on Thursday, he said that funds released by the government of Balochistan for the sports associations registered with Balochistan Sports Board were being released to un-registered clubs of different sports associations and sometimes to irrelevant individuals on likes and dislikes basis.

He said that due to the negligence of officers of the sports department, that highly important sector of the province was declining. He said although the government of Balochistan had framed Balochistan Sports Policy during the year 2008 to run the affairs of sports yet the said policy was not being followed in true letter and spirit.

He called on authorities to reshuffle the high-ups of the sports department and conduct an inquiry into the embezzlement of funds meant for promotion of sports in the province. He said that if the present authorities of the sports department were not transferred immediately, the case would be filed before the court of law.
