ISLAMABAD: An Additional Sessions Judge in Islamabad Zafar Iqbal on Tuesday issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman and former Prime Minister Imran Khan over his repeated failure to appear before him in Toshakhana case.
Imran Khan had to be indicted in the Toshakhana case on Tuesday, however, his legal counsel Ali Bukhari requested the court to exempt him (Imran Khan) from personal appearance on Tuesday because he had to appear in several other courts in various other courts in Islamabad.
It may be recalled that the indictment of Imran Khan has already been deferred twice before. Later, the Additional Sessions Judge adjourned the hearing till March 7. Meanwhile, a single bench of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) comprising Chief Justice Aamer Farooq on Tuesday granted pre-arrest bail to Imran Khan until March 9 in the attempted murder case. The bail was granted against furnishing of a surety bond of Rs100,000.
Mohsin Ranjha of PML-N had got an FIR registered against Imran Khan on the allegations that a gunshot fired by a police constable of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa outside the Election Commission of Pakistan on October 21 last year was an ‘attempt on his life’ allegedly at the behest of Imran Khan.
