Provincial Minister for Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department Sindh Mukesh Kumar Chawla presented a one-month performance report against drug peddlers across the province.

According to the report released by the Provincial Minister for Excise, Taxation and Narcotics today, the teams of the Excise and Narcotics Control Department recovered heroin, charas, opium, ice crystals, esctasy tablets and local liquor in various operations during snap checking, raids and intelligence based actions across the province, while 16 accused were arrested in 11 cases against drug peddlers, and one car and 3 motorcycles used in drug trafficking were also seized.

According to the report, 4.550 kg heroin, 28.43 kg hashish (charas), 2.5 kg opium, 2.535 kg ice crystals, 3 liters of local liquor and 50 esctasy tablets were recovered in various operations based actions from November 8 to December 10, 2024, while 7 cases against drug peddlers were registered in Karachi, one each in Hyderabad and Mirpurkhas, while 2 in Shaheed Benazirabad district and 16 accused were arrested. Of the arrested suspects, 10 were arrested in Karachi, 2 in Hyderabad, one in Mirpurkhas, and 3 in Shaheed Benazirabad.

Provincial Minister Mukesh Kumar Chawla said that three days ago, on Saturday, December 7, a team of the Excise and Narcotics Control Department Sindh had arrested two suspects in two separate major intelligence based operations in Korangi and Kati Pahari against drug peddlers, recovering more than 2.5 kg of heroin and more than 5 kg of hashish.

He said that the circle around drug peddlers is being tightened and the intelligence network has also been activated, while snap checking has been increased in the border areas of Sindh to prevent drug smuggling.
