KARACHI:A mugger was killed and three others were injured and arrested in a shootout with Soldier Bazar police during a house robbery in the city.
According to police sources, the police got an information on its Helpline 15 pertaining to a robbery in a house. They rushed to the scene and cordoned off the area. Seeing police, the robbers opened fire on them. The police said that in the retaliatory fire, a mugger was killed and his three accomplices were injured.
The police said five robbers entered the house for robbery and started beating and looting the owner of the house near Jinnah CNG Station along Main MA Jinnah Road near Mazar-e-Quaid.
The police said that four illegal pistols with rounds were recovered from dacoits. They said initially, the accused are known to be members of a Afghan gang. The accused are involved in house robberies from Gulistan-e-Jauhar police station, Gulshan police station, Mubina Town police station, Newtown police station and Ferozeabad area.
The identities of the accused are being ascertained. The body of the accused and the injured had been shifted to the hospital for medico-legal formalities and treatment, respectively.
