PESHAWAR: Opposition in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Friday submitted a no-confidence motion against Chief Minister Mahmood Khan, sending another severe political blow to the PTI rulers.
The leaders of the opposition submitted the motion in the office of the Assembly Secretary. The motion carries the signatures of 46 MPAs. Awami National Party (ANP) leader Sardar Babak said that the provincial government is violating assembly rules due to confusion.
He said that with the consultation of the Leader of the Opposition and all the opposition parties, a no-confidence motion has been submitted to stop the unconstitutional measures. According to the resolution, Mahmood Khan has ceased to command the confidence of the majority of the Members of KP Assembly as the Chief Minister, it is hereby resolved that he shall stand ceased to hold the said office.
Some days back, PPP chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had announced that the joint opposition will file no-confidence motion in KPK, Gilgit-Baltistan and AJK. Yesterday, he commented on political situation as saying the democracy is the best revenge.
Earlier, addressing a press conference in Lower Dir, PPP K-P President Najmudddin Khan said that the joint opposition had decided to file the no-trust move against KP CM. He had stated that the opposition parties, including Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), Awami National Party (ANP) and PPP are on the same page on no-trust move plan.
