The Islamabad Traffic Police, under the supervision of Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Capt (retd) Syed Zeeshan Haider, today issued fines to over 9,000 motorists in the past week.
This operation is part of a broader effort to enhance road safety and ensure compliance with traffic laws in Pakistan”s capital. The targeted campaign specifically addressed a range of infractions. Notable among these were 1,051 vehicles flagged for nonstandard number plates and 1,302 motorcyclists penalized for not wearing helmets. A substantial number of fines were also handed out for illegal parking (1,816), driving against the traffic (775), and red light violations (1,103).
Furthermore, 420 drivers were fined for not using seat belts, and 98 were caught using mobile phones while driving. The Traffic Police”s stringent measures extended to impounding 1,779 vehicles and motorcycles for severe violations, emphasizing the seriousness with which the authorities are treating the issue.
CTO Haider has reiterated the importance of adhering to traffic rules, urging the public to cooperate with law enforcement to maintain a smooth traffic system. He emphasized that such rigorous enforcement actions are essential for preventing accidents and ensuring that the laws are applied uniformly to everyone.
