Pak-Afghan Peace Dialogue held in Quetta

Quetta:Pak-Afghan Peace Dialogue under the aegis of “Organization of Islamic Youth” and Balochistan Chamber of Commerce was held at Conference Hall of Balochistan Chamber of Commerce on Thursday.

Pak-Afghan Peace Dialogue presided over by Hammad Khan Kakar, President, Organization of Youth discussed issues relating to “Role of Pakistan in Afghanistan’s peace”, “Bringing warring parties into negotiating table” and “Strengthening bilateral relations” between Pakistan and Afghanistan came under discussion.

Badar-ud-Din Kakar, Senior Vice President, Balochistan Chamber of Commerce Muhammad Hashim kakar, Dawood Khan, Nazar Baloch Advocate, Syed Bilal Ahmed, Sadaf Awan, Urwa Javed, Al-Hamd Islamic University, Faisal Qayum, representatives of Afghan refugees Arzu Sultni, Syed Azeem, Hussain Sarwari, Somiya, Fatima, Najeeba addressed dialogue as guest speakers while Zardasht Khan, former Deputy Ambassador of Afghanistan to Pakistan addressed the dialogue via video call.

Giving introduction of Pak-Afghan Peace Dialogue, Hammad Khan Kakar, said cordial and brotherly relations with all the Muslim countries have always been one of the integral parts of Pakistan’s foreign policy. He said Pakistan’s relations with its North-Western neighboring country Afghanistan have constituted a problematic area in its foreign policy since its inception in 1947. He said Pakistan shares the second largest border with Afghanistan, however, relations between the two countries have been strained for the last many years. He said Organization of Islamic Youth is earnestly striving to bring people of Pakistan and Afghanistan closer to each other.

Speakers said war on terror added to the miseries of the people of Afghanistan. They said the role of Pakistan in facilitating peace process cannot be ignored. They said steps are required to be taken for bringing warring parties of Afghan conflict including Taliban to negotiating table after signing of “Doha Accord” inked between United States of America and Taliban.

They said apart from government of Pakistan, youth of Pakistan and Afghanistan can play role helping commence intra-Afghan dialogue. Representatives of Afghan Refugees living in Pakistan while addressing “Pak-Afghan Peace Dialogue” said, “Afghan Refugees are maltreated by police which does not convey positive image of Pakistan”. They said, “Quota reserved for Afghani students in the educational institutions of Pakistan needs to be increased”.
