Islamabad is launching a comprehensive door-to-door survey and a mobile application, Pak ID, to bolster public safety, improve law enforcement, and enhance urban planning. Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, announced the initiatives at a high-level meeting on Friday. The meeting included representatives from CDA, Islamabad Police, the Ministry of Interior, NADRA, the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, and the district administration.
NADRA officials explained that the Pak ID app allows residents to register themselves from their homes with a streamlined process and minimal data entry. The app will be integrated with other platforms for automated data collection.
Concurrently, a citywide survey will collect information on all inhabitants, including family members, tenants, relatives, and foreign nationals. Geo-tagging technology will be used to create a centralized database of verified locations and details. High-quality imagery support from SUPARCO will ensure accuracy.
The primary goal is to create a complete and reliable citizen database for the capital. This database will strengthen public safety and law enforcement efforts and inform future development planning and service delivery.
Randhawa stressed the importance of user-friendliness and directed the integration of the app with existing platforms to automate data collection. He emphasized that these digital resources will expedite and simplify registration, empowering residents to submit their information easily.
A public awareness drive will encourage maximum citizen participation in the registration process via the Pak ID app. Randhawa highlighted that these initiatives would considerably aid the district administration and other agencies in security protocols and urban development strategies. He pledged to allocate all necessary resources to protect residents’ lives and property, ensuring a secure and peaceful environment in the federal capital.
