A three-member delegation of the Saudi-Pakistan Parliamentary Friendship Committee arrived in Islamabad on Sunday as an important step towards strengthening relations between the legislative bodies of the two countries. The group, which arrived at the invitation of National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, is led by a prominent member of the Saudi Shura Council, Major General (retd) Dr. Abdul Rahman bin Sahit Al-Arabi. He was received by Saudi Ambassador Dr. Muhammad Nawaaf bin Saeed Al-Malki and senior officials of the National Assembly.
The delegation also includes Dr. Eman bint Abdulaziz Al-Jibrin and Engineer Salem bin Ali Al-Shahri, both members of the Saudi Shura Council. The visit is seen as a significant step towards enhancing cooperation between the two parliaments.
Saudi officials will meet with National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and Senate Chairman Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani. Meetings are also scheduled with the Pakistan-Saudi Parliamentary Friendship Group in the National Assembly. In addition to these engagements, the delegation will attend the budget session of the National Assembly, which will provide them with insights into Pakistan’s parliamentary procedures.
