Karachi, October 22, 2018 (PPI-OT): FPCCI’s Vice President Tariq Haleem has said that business relations between Pakistan and Qatar are growing with the growing alliance between the leadership and people of both the countries. This came during a meeting held at Qatar Chamber in Doha during the visit of FPCCI delegation lead by Tariq Haleem, Vice President FPCCI. Mr. Haleem highlighted that Pakistan is an important source of Qatar’s food supply which has risen by 70% during the last year.
He also highlighted the role of Pakistani manpower which is playing important role in the socio-economic activity of Qatar. Reminding the Qatar Chamber board members of the Pakistani government’s decision to cut duties on imported LPG, Haleem said that two governments and the private sector should work together to design some mechanism for export of LPG from Qatar to Pakistan to fill the supply demand gap.
The Chairman of Qatar Chamber Shaikh Khalifa Bin Jassim Al-Thani said that bilateral trade of both the countries has registered a 100% increase in last two years. He encouraged Pakistani companies to develop joint ventures with Qatari counterparts which could benefit economies of both the countries. He also affirmed that the launch of sea route between Hamad Port and Karachi Port has helped a lot in making trade easy and efficient between both the brotherly countries.
Mehmood Arshad, the Chairman of Pakistan-Qatar Business Council also spoke at the occasion and said that Pakistan has a strategic location which makes it a gateway to other markets of the region. He invited Qatari investors to come and invest in Pakistan which is a big market of 200 million people and neighbours with the growing markets of Russia, Central Asia, Afghanistan, Iran and China. He also highlighted the significance of CPEC for Qatari investors.
