Pakistan-Azerbaijan Economic Delegates Focus on Institutional Collaboration

In a bid to deepen economic cooperation, the Pakistan-Azerbaijan Parliamentary Friendship Group (PFG) engaged in a significant meeting Saturday, with Mr. Adeel Shuja Butt, President of the Azerbaijan-Pakistan Trade House. The session, led by MNA Syed Raza Ali Gillani, focused on exploring enhanced trade, investment, and institutional collaboration between the two nations.

During the meeting, discussions zeroed in on expanding cooperation in sectors such as agriculture, pharmaceuticals, and information technology. Both parties emphasized the necessity of diversifying economic exchanges beyond traditional sectors and enhancing market access. The dialogue also addressed the need for formal banking channels to facilitate bilateral transactions and investments.

Participants highlighted the strategic importance of the North-South Corridor as a key trade and connectivity route. In the education sector, there was a consensus on initiating collaboration with the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan to explore scholarship programs and academic exchanges. The upcoming Trade Expo, scheduled for June 10-12, was acknowledged as a crucial forum for showcasing business potential and fostering partnerships.

The meeting concluded with a shared vision for an annual review mechanism between the PFG and the Trade House to monitor progress and strategize future initiatives. Both sides expressed their commitment to advancing bilateral cooperation in alignment with the shared vision of the leaderships of Pakistan and Azerbaijan.
