Pakistan today asserted its support for a peaceful resolution to the Iran nuclear issue through diplomatic means and ongoing dialogue.

This commitment was voiced by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar at a special session during the 51st Session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers held in Istanbul.

In his speech, Dar highlighted the recent Israeli military actions against Iran, condemning them as an aggression that not only breaches international law but also disrupts the ongoing verification activities by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Iran. He criticized the international community”s double standards concerning Israel”s actions, pointing out the absence of repercussions for violations of international law and IAEA statutes.

Emphasizing the loss of life and the targeting of civilian areas, Dar expressed Pakistan”s solidarity with Iran, extending condolences for the lives lost due to these military strikes. According to Dar, these actions by Israel represent a dangerous escalation that threatens regional and global peace and stability.

The Deputy Prime Minister also reiterated Pakistan’s support for Iran”s right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter in response to these unprovoked attacks. He urged the international community to hold Israel accountable and to ensure that its actions do not endanger the peace and stability of the wider region.

Dar expressed hope that the OIC meeting would serve as a platform for the international community to reaffirm its support for Iran and to send a clear message against the impunity with which Israel has acted.
