Pakistan has condemned comments made by the Indian Defence Minister regarding its nuclear arsenal, during his visit to Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJ and K).
Islamabad criticized the remarks as reflecting insecurity and frustration about Pakistan’s defense capabilities against Indian aggression.
The Foreign Ministry in Pakistan highlighted that its conventional military strength is sufficient to deter India without resorting to what it termed ‘nuclear blackmail.’ It also accused the Indian Defence Minister of misunderstanding the role of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
Pakistan pointed to several incidents of theft and trafficking of nuclear materials in India, including a radioactive device stolen from the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre and incidents involving Californium. These cases, Pakistan argued, indicate potential security lapses and the presence of a black market for nuclear materials in India.
The Pakistani government called for a comprehensive investigation into these incidents and urged India to secure its nuclear facilities and arsenal.
