Pakistan has strongly urged the global community for immediate action to halt Israel’s ongoing attacks in Gaza.
During a UN Security Council briefing focused on the Middle East, including the Palestinian question, Pakistan’s permanent representative, Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, demanded an immediate and unconditional ceasefire, the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces, the liberation of captives, and unrestricted access for humanitarian aid in Gaza.
Ahmad emphasized the significance of the recent High-Level Conference on a peaceful resolution to the Palestinian issue and the implementation of a two-state solution. He stressed that this conference must be succeeded by tangible and collaborative international efforts to secure enduring peace and stability within the Middle East.
The Pakistani envoy asserted that sustainable peace necessitates a credible political roadmap culminating in the establishment of a sovereign, independent, and geographically contiguous Palestinian state within the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
