Pakistani and Qatari legislative leaders pledged to bolster parliamentary cooperation at a meeting in Geneva. Senate Chairman Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani and Shura Council Speaker Hassan Al-Ghanim met during the 6th World Conference of Speakers of Parliament, organized by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).
A statement from the Senate Secretariat highlighted the strong, longstanding relationship between the two nations, based on shared principles and goals. The officials discussed various topics, including political alliances, economic collaborations, legislative exchanges, and citizen connections.
Gilani stressed the significance of collaborative initiatives to tackle global issues and praised Qatar’s contributions to regional and international stability. He advocated for continued collaboration on platforms like the IPU to promote peaceful resolutions, uphold legal standards, and encourage inclusive progress.
The leaders agreed to strengthen legislative cooperation through regular communication and exchanges, including interactions between Parliamentary Friendship Groups. Gilani invited Al-Ghanim to a Speakers Conference in Pakistan scheduled for November 11-12, 2025. Al-Ghanim accepted and expressed support for the conference’s triumph.
The meeting ended positively, with both sides reaffirming their dedication to enhancing bilateral connections through ongoing dialogue and multifaceted partnerships.
