Pakistan and Russia signed a historic agreement between the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the National Assembly of Pakistan on Cooperation in Moscow on Thursday.

The agreement was signed by visiting Pakistan’s National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and his counterpart Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the Russian State Duma, says a press release received here from Moscow.

The agreement aims to enhance ties between the two legislative bodies and establish permanent cooperation mechanisms through committees, commissions and parliamentary groups.

In his opening remarks, Ayaz Sadiq noted that with Mr Volodin, he has long ties of friendship, while with some members of the Russian delegation, he (Ayaz Sadiq) has been acquainted for over 10 years.

He also thanked Mr Volodin for accepting invitation to visit Pakistan. Speaker Ayaz Sadiq also expressed gratitude to Mr Volodin for his support to the initiative of Pakistan to convene a Speakers Conference Format.

The two sides agreed to hold its fourth Session in Moscow in 2025. In this connection, Ayaz Sadiq suggested that not only official but also business delegations may be invited to this meeting in order to enhance economic cooperation.

Sardar Ayaz Sadiq visited State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation on Thursday, on the invitation of his counterpart, Vyacheslav Volodin. The two parliamentary leaders held a tête-à-tête, followed by delegation-level talks.
