Pakistan Secures 300,000-Tonne Rice Export Deal with Iran

Iran is set to import 300,000 tonnes of rice from Pakistan, Minister for National Food Security and Research, Rana Tanveer Hussain, has announced.

Addressing a ceremony at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry today, the federal minister also disclosed that Bangladesh has shown interest in procuring rice from the country, terming it a positive development.

Mr Hussain remarked that the Prime Minister has established an ambitious export target of one hundred billion rupees for the nation. He emphasised that increasing per-acre agricultural output through sustained research is essential for the sector”s advancement. The minister concluded that bolstering exports will be instrumental in helping to reduce the current account deficit.
