In a fervent appeal to the international community, Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development, Chaudhry Salik Hussain, called for urgent global intervention to support the beleaguered Palestinian population.
Speaking at the “International Solidarity Meeting with the Palestinian Labor and People” organized by the Arab Labor Organization in Geneva, Hussain emphasized Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity with Palestinians amid escalating violence.
The Minister condemned the brutal acts and excessive force used against unarmed civilians, highlighting the plight of children, women, and the elderly in Gaza. He stressed the necessity for immediate financial aid, medical supplies, and food to alleviate the humanitarian crisis faced by the Palestinians.
Hussain urged the United Nations and the International Labour Organization to take swift action to halt the ongoing carnage and restore normalcy to the lives of innocent civilians. His sentiments were echoed by Minister for Labour Palestine Dr. Anaas Atari and prominent leaders from Arab states, alongside the Director General of ILO and the General Secretary of ITUC, who collectively denounced the violence and the egregious loss of life.
The assembly, attended by a significant number of ministers and dignitaries from ILO member states, underscored a collective call for peace and justice. Concurrently, Chaudhry Salik Hussain engaged in a discourse with Luc Triangle, Secretary-General of the International Trade Union Confederation, reaffirming Pakistan”s dedication to upholding international labor standards.
Hussain highlighted Pakistan”s ongoing efforts under the Decent Work Country Program, which aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goals to enhance labor conditions. He further reiterated the nation”s commitment to bolstering protections for migrant workers and improving social safety nets, reflecting Pakistan’s broader agenda of fostering human rights and dignity.
This plea for action not only seeks to address immediate humanitarian needs but also aims to pave the way for long-term stability and peace in the region, reinforcing Pakistan”s role as a steadfast advocate for international solidarity and justice.
