Pasban Democratic Party’s Women Wing President, Aziz Fatima, said on Wednesday that the exploitation of students and parents in the name of scrutiny should be stopped.
In a statement issued by PDM, she said that the Sindh Education Minister should take immediate action to correct the corrupt officials of the boards. Fatima said: “Educational institutions should adopt a transparent system for determining scrutiny fees and publicly share its details. An effective system should be created for students to register complaints so that they can raise their voices against any unfair treatment. The judiciary is asked take suo moto notice of the continuous injustice with Karachi students.”
PDP leader sadi: “In a meeting, affected students and parents from the Intermediate results reported that the Karachi Board of Intermediate is exploiting students under the guise of scrutiny. Even after paying separate scrutiny fees for each subject, the result remains the same, and parents have to bear the burden of paying the same fees again the next year, which is sheer injustice.”
She said that mafias had made it a habit to spoil students’ results and then collect hefty sums in the name of scrutiny. The citizens of Karachi were being subjected to all kinds of injustices, such as expensive electricity, gas, load shedding, and water scarcity, but they would not tolerate injustice against their children, she added. “For many years, Karachi’s students have been kept away from education under the guise of results, but this conspiracy will not be allowed to succeed.”
Fatima said that the chief minister, governor, and mayor should pay immediate attention; otherwise, they would be forced to take drastic measures with the public. Last year, the Fact-Finding Committee, formed after the poor results of Matric and Intermediate boards, had exposed flaws from the curriculum to exams and results. Despite this, students were mistreated again this year, she added. “It is like rubbing salt into the wounds, as students and parents are once again being exploited in the name of scrutiny.” She said that in Sindh, particularly in Karachi, a deliberate conspiracy was being hatched to destroy education.
