The leader of the Church of Pakistan, Bishop Frederick John, congratulated Advocate Saleem Michael and social leader Basharat Uthwal for their role in resolving the pension and dues issues of retired Christian employees of KMC. He termed their efforts as highly significant for the protection of the rights of the Christian community.
Bishop Frederick John stated that Saleem Michael and Basharat Uthwal have rendered selfless services in the legal and social fields. Their efforts have made it possible for the retired employees of KMC to receive their dues, which were halted by the Mayor of Karachi in 2023.
He further added that these two individuals are a beacon of hope for the Christian community. Their efforts in resolving the issues of KMC employees are highly commendable. Pervez Gill, Anwar Sardar, and others were also present on the occasion.
Bishop Frederick John mentioned that the Christian community plays an important role in the development of Pakistan. Christian employees have always performed their duties with hard work and honesty, and it is the government’s responsibility to protect their rights.
He called on the government and relevant institutions to ensure the protection of minority rights and to provide legitimate rights to Christian employees working in KMC and other institutions.
