Srinagar, June 04, 2018 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Mirwaiz-led Hurriyat forum has said that the Kashmiri people are boiling with anger against India and its local ruling dispensation in the territory. The Mirwaiz forum in a statement issued in Srinagar pointed out that killings, arrests and use of brute force by Indian forces to suppress the Kashmiris’ struggle continued unabated despite the ceasefire claim by the Indian authorities. The forum while condemning the crushing of a youth, Qaisar Butt, by Indian army vehicle in Srinagar said such incidents exhibit open aggression and worst form of state terrorism unleashed by India upon the Kashmiri people.
The Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front, Muhammad Yasin Malik, along with a party delegation visited the residence of Qaisar Butt in Srinagar and expressed solidarity with the bereaved family. As many as 12 civilians and four policemen including a Station House Officer were among 16 injured in a grenade blast in Shopian district, today. The grenade exploded at Batapora Chowk in the district. The injured were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The incident triggered clashes between protesters and Indian troops in Shopian. Scores of youth pelted rocks on the troops deployed in the town. The troops used force and fired teargas shells to disperse the protesters. Clashes between the troops and youth were also reported in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district, today, against the recent killing of a local youth, Sheeraz Ahmad Sheikh, by the Indian army in Tangdar area of Kupwara district. Shopkeepers downed their shutters in protest against the killing.
The Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party in a statement in Srinagar, today, expressed solidarity with the families whose relatives were martyred in so-called Tangdar encounter. The statement said that the party had always raised doubt about those killed around the Line of Control by the Indian troops after being dubbed as foreigners. Meanwhile, two Indian paramilitary forces (CRPF) personnel were injured when unknown persons hurled a grenade on them at Tahab village in Pulwama district.
