People to People Contact Vital for Strengthening Relations between Iraq and Pakistan: NA Deputy Speaker

Islamabad, October 14, 2021 (PPI-OT):Deputy Speaker National Assembly Qasim Khan Suri has said that Iraq and Pakistan enjoy cordial relations based upon common religion and cultural values. He said that Parliament to Parliament contacts of both countries would enhance relations between both nations. He expressed these views during his meeting with Ambassador of Republic of Iraq Mr. Hammed Abbas Lufta who called on him in the Parliament House today.

Deputy Speaker National Assembly Qasim Khan Suri said that Pakistan is a safe destination for investment in the field of Energy, Trade and Information Technology. He appreciated the proposed project of Iraqi Government for utilizing Pakistani refineries for their crude oil. He also thanked the Iraqi government for supporting hundreds of Pakistani workers who are in Iraq.

He also applauded the courage and resilience of Iraqi people to face hardships and hard times. He also said that both countries have great opportunity to explore in the sectors of trade, business and mutual contact. Ambassador of Republic of Iraq Mr. Hamed Abbas Lufta said that Pakistan and Iraq have great opportunities in terms of bilateral cooperation in fields of energy, transport, trade and business. He also appreciated Pakistan role for regional connectivity and peace. He said that Iraq values high its ties with Pakistan and is looking forward more cooperation in terms of trade and business.
